April 15, 2010 – Vitrak Systems Inc. selected to represent PEI on trade mission to Florida

Vitrak management is pleased to announce their participation in an upcoming Trade Mission to the State of Florida, May 10-15th, 2010.

Innovation PEI, the arm of government responsible for economic development for Prince Edward Island, in partnership with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) are leading a delegate of Executives from several of PEI’s high technology companies on a Trade Mission to Florida that begins May 10, 2010.

Programs and meetings during the mission will provide opportunity for Vitrak management to introduce its sensor floor technology to some of the leading manufacturers and marketers of medical device instrumentation in the U.S. The objective of Vitrak is to fast track its access to the U.S market via a partnership with an established U.S FDA approved medical device manufacturer.

The State of Florida is ranked 2nd in the nation for FDA registered medical device manufacturers and its medical products industry contributes a total direct economic output of $3.4 billion.

August 12, 2008 – Island entrepreneur attracting attention in U.S.

When the Pentagon shows interest, you know it’s serious.

An Island entrepreneur and businessman is developing a floor monitoring system that could revolutionize the human and animal health-care system and perhaps organizations beyond that. The Pentagon is interested and the University of North Carolina’s medical team wants a demonstration. Mike Power, the president of Vitrak Systems Inc., said they’ve been working on a product for pharmaceutical use for the past five years.

August 13, 2007 – Businessman back in control after winning legal battle

An Island inventor and businessman has won an important court victory against a hired manager whom a court found had tried to take over his business.

Michael Power won in court a year ago, but finally regained control of his company, Vitrak Systems, this month when former colleague John Lauer dropped his appeal of a 2006 decision that stripped Lauer and a group of associates of their Vitrak shares.

May 25, 2005 – Vitrak Website Launch

The Vitrak Floor Monitoring System has been in its research and development phase since August 26, 2002 and is scheduled for scientific work completion by June 30, 2005 with the final reporting and demonstration elements completed by August 31, 2005. As this milestone in the Company’s drive to commercialisation approaches, Vitrak Systems Inc. heralds this achievement with the launch of www.vitraksystems.com to openly communicate what few people have known during these past years.

Vitrak Systems Inc. now enters its pre-commercialisation and commercialisation phases and will begin to gather the individuals and associations necessary to achieve its long-sought objective of profitable commercial development.

January 26, 2005 - Vitrak Floor Monitoring System – Final R&D Commences

The Vitrak Floor Monitoring System proof-of-concept was achieved in late 2004, but there remained the matter of a scientific discovery of a potentially new manner of determining a subject’s weight. Despite the fact that such was not part of the original project specifications, the funding parties once again agreed to support this important final stage of research and development involving the expenditure of a further $157,083 to study and determine a unique method of calibrating the application of pressure to the Vitrak Floor Monitoring Systems’ intelligent floor tile in order to calculate the subject’s weight. This element alone will have a dramatic effect on the ability of the Vitrak Floor Monitoring Systems to identify unique characteristics of the manner in which a subject moves across a floor.

Scheduled for scientific work completion by June 30, 2005 the final elements of the research and development phase will be completed by August 31, 2005.

November 17, 2003 - Vitrak Floor Monitoring System – Phase 2 R&D Commences

Armed with the success of the research and development of the intelligent floor tiles in the first phase, the funding partners came together once again to approve the second phase expenditures of $542,550 to create the overall Vitrak Floor monitoring System which would combine Vitrak’s smart floor tiles with such unique software development and RFID technology which would create the world’s most advanced floor monitoring system. This phase has resulted in the overall proof-of-concept achieved in late 2004.

August 26, 2002 – Vitrak Floor Monitoring System – Phase 1 R&D Commences

Although considered ‘ancient history’ in Vitrak Systems Inc.’s short life thus far, this date remains pivotal in the Company’s drive to commercial success. It was upon this date that the combinations of financing elements were finally in place to launch the first phase of research and development to determine if a cutting-edge, technology-driven floor monitoring system could be built. Without any track-record other than the international reputations of the science team leader Dr. Graham Atkin and the business management skills of John Lauer, this $737,669 phase commenced with the intelligent floor tiles as its primary objective. This phase lasted until December 2003, and determined that indeed a footprint could be captured by a computer, and its movement tracked with precise detail such that historical data could be retained in a manner that allowed for independent assessment. To our knowledge this is the first time the world has seen such a system, and it was in the latter part of this phase that simultaneous USA and Canadian Patent Applications were filed.

This phase also saw the discovery of an important potential method of weight determination which would become the final element of our research and development efforts once the concept of the Vitrak Floor Monitoring System had been proven.
